Summer is here at last! However, it is warm and humid - perfect weather for ticks! Watch out for "warm rain" because this seems to flush out the ticks. We always check the dogs all over, following a walk after warm rain. In the past we have even found ticks inside the pads of the dogs paws!

Thanks for this very timely reminder about the ticks. We found one on the inside of our OES ear a few days ago. It's easy to mistake them for a wart or lump just by feel. The tick remover we have is a useful device and we have found it best to remove the tick in one quick, smooth operation.

Help! My poor OES is being devoured by these critters and they're coming after me, too! Not wanting to use any pesticides on him (no tick baths, tick collars or spot-application treatments), we have been trying to find natural repellents such as essential oils and diatomaceous earth, which have worked to limited degrees. Manual tick removal on this OES in a tropical country is more or less becoming a round-the-clock operation. I would be grateful for any viable advice that don't involve industrial chemicals.

Sorry, that should have been "we have been using natural repellents such as essential oils and diatomaceous earth". Sure, the dog smells super nice but the ticks seem undeterred in feasting on him.
