Barking......Even though barking is normal canine behaviour, excessive barking can become a nuisance, especially if it becomes 'learned behaviour'. Dogs do what 'works' for them and the more they practise the better they will get! Establishing the reason for barking and what reinforcement/reward the dog gets when he barks is a good place to start. Ignoring a barking dog sometimes isn't enough because he will try harder to get your attention and may bark more; getting frustrated. So the behaviour can get worse before it gets better.
